The Usóró Ndō installation brought together the cultural significance of kola nut and the hands-on process of using it as a natural dye. Across Nigeria and many parts of Africa, kola nut carries meaning beyond its physical form. It is offered when welcoming guests, shared during ceremonies, and used within rituals as a gesture of hospitality, respect, blessing, and connection.

The installation invited guests to look more closely at this familiar material and the process behind its use as a dye. Through a demonstration and conversation, we explored how kola nuts are prepared, transformed, and worked into cloth, revealing a process that is as much about patience as it is about colour.
